On paper, it looks dark, polished and romantic rather than loud or aggressively sweet.

The opening should give the fragrance its initial contrast. From there, the structure looks fuller and more textured, with sandalwood and amber forming the core. In terms of wear, Aeterna Amantes looks strongest for autumn, winter and evenings, though it should still work in daytime if you enjoy darker woods. If your taste runs toward smooth sandalwood, amber, incense and a touch of floral softness, it looks appealing. If you prefer crisp fresh fragrances or obvious sweetness, this may feel too resinous and shaded.
