The opening is led by bergamot, lemon and tangerine. That citrus trio gives Beguiled a crisp start, but it is not especially sharp or cologne-like. Instead, it clears the way for the florals and keeps the composition feeling poised. Once the heart comes through, ylang ylang, jasmine and rose form the main shape of the scent. The floral tone reads feminine and elegant, with a clean finish rather than a lush, nectar-heavy one.

What makes Beguiled stand out is the tension between cleanliness and spice. More than one wearer describes it as both clean and intriguing, and that tracks with the note list. Beguiled is likely to appeal most to someone who enjoys elegant florals but wants more bite and texture than a soft bouquet usually gives. It does not smell youthful in a sugary, trendy way, and it does not aim for broad crowd-pleasing sweetness either. If you like your florals clean, peppery, slightly powdery and composed with a clear sense of structure, this is one to sample seriously.
