The opening seems to center on lemon, bergamot, grapefruit and mandarin with basil and mint adding bite. Reviewers repeatedly mention a clean, shower-fresh effect, but this is not a thin citrus splash. Nutmeg gives the middle some warmth, and several wearers describe a green, barbershop-like structure that feels closer to older fougeres than to casual sports colognes. A few even mention lavender or oakmoss-like facets, despite those notes not being listed, which suggests the overall accord reads more traditionally aromatic than the official pyramid alone would imply.

As it settles, the fragrance moves into cedar, white musk, patchouli and a touch of leather. That base appears to be what keeps Black O Man from feeling flimsy.
