The opening is where the fragrance feels most alive. Pink pepper gives it a sharp, fizzy lift that keeps the first few minutes from turning too creamy or too soft. That spice is not especially hot or resinous. It reads cleaner and drier, more like a brisk crackle over wood than a deep cloud of incense. If you dislike peppery openings, this may be the stage that decides the fragrance for you.

Once the top settles, cedarwood becomes the main story. This is where Elphaba Thropp starts to feel grounded and a little moodier. The woodiness comes across smooth rather than rough, with a musky texture that keeps it from feeling too skeletal. Vanilla absolute rounds the edges, but the sweetness stays controlled.
