Furze is one of those Lush perfumes that makes more sense on skin than on paper. The official story points toward gorse blossom, honeyed neroli, mimosa, vanilla, and a warm breeze effect, and that does fit the mood. In practice, though, many wearers experience it less as a literal wildflower perfume and more as a creamy coconut floral with a green, slightly prickly top. That tension is what makes it interesting. It is sunny and comforting, but not especially simple.

The opening can be the hardest part to judge. Furze often starts with a quick burst of neroli brightness and a bitter green note that feels sharp, herbal, or even a little strange. On some skin, that phase passes quickly. On others, it adds a persistent edge that stops the scent from becoming too soft or too beachy. If you like fragrances with a smooth start, this may feel a bit abrupt. If you enjoy something that shifts and settles, the contrast can be rewarding.

Once it moves past that first stage, Furze becomes much easier to understand. The heart and dry-down are where the perfume earns its following. Coconut comes through clearly for many people, even more strongly than the listed notes would suggest, and it blends with vanilla into something creamy, powdery, and warm. Mimosa adds a soft yellow-floral haze rather than a fresh petal effect, while neroli keeps a gentle citrus-white-floral thread running underneath. The result can feel like sun lotion, warm fabric, soft florals, or even buttery almond pastry depending on skin chemistry and weather.

That last part matters. Furze appears to behave best in mild to warm conditions, where the creamy and floral sides bloom without becoming too heavy. In spring and summer it often reads breezy, beachy, and comforting. In colder weather, or in very dry air, some wearers find it turns sharper, waxier, or more overtly powdery. It is also a fragrance that can pass through an odd plasticky or Play-Doh-like stage, especially early in the wear. For some people that disappears into a lovely dry-down. For others, it never quite stops distracting.

Performance is stronger than the scent profile might imply. Community voting points to moderate to long-lasting wear, with mostly moderate projection but enough presence to be noticed. A few wearers describe it as lasting all day, and it seems to hold especially well on fabric or hair. That said, Furze does not wear like a dense amber or a heavy gourmand. Its presence comes from texture and persistence rather than sheer weight.

The main reason to try Furze is character. If you want a straightforward tropical coconut, there are easier options. Furze is softer, stranger, more floral, and more powdery than that. The green bitterness at the edges gives it shape, and the dry-down can feel genuinely beautiful if your skin pulls out the creamy vanilla-coconut side. It is a good pick for someone who likes Lush's more idiosyncratic style and wants a warm-weather scent that does not smell generic. It is less convincing as a blind buy for someone who wants an easy crowd-pleaser.
