This is a woody chypre. It opens with sharp lemon and spicy black pepper before settling into a heart of jasmine and iris. The base is where the real weight lies, featuring heavy incense, agarwood, and amber which gives it a resinous, warm character suitable for autumn.

The initial spray is quite energetic, driven by the citrus and cardamom top notes. As it warms on your skin over thirty minutes, the iris adds a powdery softness, while the labdanum and incense emerge to anchor the fragrance, resulting in a dark, sophisticated finish that lasts for hours.

You can expect solid performance, generally between six to eight hours. It stays present on the skin through a full workday, though it tends to sit closer to the body after the first three hours. It performs best in cooler weather where the incense and oud notes are less likely to become overwhelming.

It can be worn in an office, provided you use a light hand. Because of the agarwood and incense, it has a serious, professional vibe. Stick to two sprays so you do not dominate a shared workspace. It works particularly well if you have a polished, formal attire style.

Autumn and winter are the ideal seasons. The cold air helps the warm amber and resinous accords develop properly. During the height of summer, the agarwood and black pepper might feel too heavy or cloying. It is a fantastic choice for crisp, chilly days when you want something grounding.

It is truly unisex. The iris and jasmine provide a floral depth that prevents it from feeling strictly masculine, while the incense and oud keep it grounded enough to avoid the overly sweet profiles often found in women's perfumery. It depends entirely on your own skin chemistry.

The projection is moderate. It creates a subtle scent bubble rather than filling an entire room. Someone standing within an arm's reach will certainly notice it, but it does not leave a long, aggressive trail behind you, making it well-suited for intimate dinners or quiet social settings.

Layering is possible, though it is quite complex on its own. You could layer it with a lighter, single-note vanilla to add sweetness, or a cedar-heavy fragrance to emphasize the woody character. Avoid layering with other heavy oud scents, as the incense in I.Metaphor already provides significant depth.

Blind buying is risky due to the incense and oud base. If you enjoy niche, resinous scents, you might appreciate it, but it is not a crowd-pleasing designer fragrance. Always acquire a small sample first to see how the iris and leather-like labdanum behave on your skin.
