Jardin de Borneo White Ginger Lily

This is primarily a white floral composition anchored by a potent base of Agarwood and animalic notes. You get an immediate blast of Jasmine Sambac and White Ginger Lily that feels very natural and high-quality. It is not your typical department store floral, as the base provides a dense, resinous structure that lasts for many hours.

The opening is bright, herbal, and almost fizzy due to the White Ginger Lily. As it hits the dry-down, the Gardenia softens and the Agarwood becomes prominent. You will find the animalic notes of Civet and Ambergris start to warm against your skin after three or four hours, providing a grounded, slightly salty finish to the initial floral explosion.

Longevity is excellent. Because this is an attar, it stays on the skin for over twelve hours with ease. You only need a tiny dab to get strong projection throughout a full workday. In cooler weather, it lingers on clothes for days, so be mindful when applying if you plan to switch scents tomorrow.

Projection is quite strong for an oil, easily filling an arm's length for the first six hours. It is not room-filling in an obnoxious way, but people in your immediate vicinity will certainly notice the Galbanum and floral notes. It settles closer to the skin as the day progresses, becoming a personal, comforting scent bubble by the evening.

Spring is the ideal season because the humidity brings out the best in the White Ginger Lily and Jasmine. The cooler air of early spring keeps the Civet and Agarwood from becoming too heavy. While it can work in summer, it might feel a bit dense on the skin during a heatwave.

It can work, but you must be conservative with your application. One small dab is more than enough. The Jasmine and Gardenia are professional, but the base notes like Oud and Civet can be polarizing in close quarters. It is a true unisex fragrance. The floral top notes are traditionally feminine, but the heavy base of Agarwood, Vetiver, and Ambergris provides a sturdy, masculine foundation. Sultan Pasha balanced these so well that the gender lean really depends on the individual wearer and their personal confidence. It smells fantastic on anyone who enjoys complex, natural-smelling florals.

If you are new to niche perfumery, proceed with caution. This is a complex composition that does not follow modern synthetic trends. The animalic notes like Civet can be challenging if you are used to fresh or fruity scents. It is quite potent on its own and rarely needs layering. However, if you want to dial back the animalic intensity, a drop of something cleaner or more citrus-forward could work. Most enthusiasts prefer to enjoy the blend as Sultan Pasha intended, letting the natural materials shine without interference from other compositions.

Given the concentration and the quality of natural materials like Sandalwood and Haitian Vetiver, it is a good value. You only use a fraction of what you would with an alcohol-based spray, so a bottle lasts a long time. It is an investment in artisanal perfumery rather than a mass-market product.
