On skin, it usually comes across as a sweet powdery floral with a clean, fluffy finish rather than a sharp fruity perfume.

The opening can go two ways depending on skin and taste. At its best, the pear and citrus give it a bright, lightly juicy start before the scent softens into heliotrope, jasmine, and a creamy vanilla musk base. That is the version many people remember as cozy, delicate, and very wearable. Less flattering experiences do show up too, especially from wearers who pick up a sour citrus edge, alcohol, or a soapy synthetic tone early on.

Once it settles, the scent profile becomes clearer. Vanilla is the strongest impression in the overall accord picture, but it is not a thick bakery vanilla. Here it feels powdery, musky, and softly floral, with heliotrope doing a lot of the work in giving the fragrance its fluffy, almost cosmetic texture. Jasmine and lily of the valley keep it recognizably feminine, while sandalwood adds a light woody base rather than anything dense or creamy.

This is also where Love ETC makes the most sense as an everyday fragrance. It tends to wear close to the body or in a moderate cloud, which suits office use, errands, casual dates, and easy daytime wear. It does not read especially formal, dark, or dramatic. Several reviews describe it as youthful, and that feels accurate. Even when older wearers enjoy it, they often frame it as nostalgic, easy, and comforting rather than polished or complex.

Performance is mixed. The community votes point to moderate longevity and mostly intimate to moderate sillage, which fits the style of the fragrance. Still, real wear reports are divided. Some people remember it lasting surprisingly well and leaving a pleasant trail, while others find it faint, watered down, or short-lived. That suggests skin chemistry matters here more than with denser perfumes.

What keeps Love ETC interesting is not originality, but balance. It sits in that soft sweet fruity-floral vanilla category that was very popular at the time, and it seems to have worked because it felt approachable and pleasant rather than demanding. The downside is that anyone looking for depth, sophistication, or a highly distinctive signature may find it too familiar, too girly, or simply too powdery.

For the right wearer, though, that softness is the appeal. If you enjoy pear-led florals that dry down into vanilla musk, and you do not need huge projection, Love ETC still sounds like a smart style to sample when found. If you dislike synthetic sweetness, sharp citrus openings, or powdery florals that can turn soapy on skin, it is better approached with caution.
