Megumi is one of those fragrances that makes more sense once you stop expecting a shiny mainstream fruity floral and start reading it as an earthy, artisanal chypre. The note list gives you apricot, rose, jasmine, oud, oakmoss and vetiver, and the reviews support that structure quite well. What stands out most is the contrast between ripe fruit and a deep mossy base.

The opening appears to be the most immediately approachable part. One reviewer describes the apricot as bigger, juicier and riper than real apricots, which fits the idea of a plush fruit note rather than something tart or watery. Another describes Megumi as opening sweet, a bit woody, vetiver-rich and mossy. That combination suggests a soft, warm start with enough sweetness to draw you in, but not in a sugary or youthful way.

As it develops, Megumi seems to move away from fruit-first territory and into a more textured chypre shape. Oakmoss and vetiver look especially important here. The accords also point strongly in that direction, with earthy, mossy, oud and woody facets leading the profile. Rose and jasmine are present, but the available evidence does not suggest a lush floral bouquet in the conventional sense. Instead, the florals appear to support the composition, giving it body and softness while the moss, woods and vetiver do most of the framing.

That structure also explains why Megumi may divide opinion. One reviewer calls it a favourite and praises its depth, while another finds it pleasant and comforting but questions whether it feels like a perfume in the usual sense. A separate review frames the line more as aromatherapeutic than conventionally perfumey. That is useful buyer context. Megumi does not sound like a polished crowd-pleaser. It sounds more intimate, personal and slightly meditative, with a naturalistic feel that some people will love and others may find too soft-edged or too oil-like.

Performance is harder to pin down with certainty, but the picture is still useful. The sillage seems to fall around moderate to strong depending on wearer and format, and one reviewer even calls it one of the stronger samples in the range. Longevity is less clear, with at least one comment suggesting the staying power was not especially impressive. That makes Megumi feel like a fragrance to sample on skin rather than blind buy for performance alone.

The best audience for Megumi is someone who enjoys chypres, oakmoss, vetiver and fruit used in a deeper, less playful way. It may also appeal to people who like perfumes that feel comforting, memory-driven and a little unusual. If your taste leans toward glossy modern fruit florals, strong designer projection or an overtly dramatic rose-oud statement, this may feel too earthy and too understated for the role.
