Oud Bhut Beng

The opening hits with a sharp, rustic blast of palisander rosewood, aromatic hinoki cypress, and crushed warm spices. It skips bright citrus entirely, introducing a dry, sawdust and timber aroma within seconds. This initial burst is bold and intensely woody, setting an authentic artisanal tone before the deeper smoky notes begin to develop.

After thirty minutes, the spices soften as green cypress needles, dry cedarwood, and herbal Himalayan spikenard take over the heart. As hours pass, the scent settles into an enduring dry-down of smoky birch tar, authentic Laotian oud, and Mysore sandalwood, tempered by subtle ambergris and a faint touch of sweet vanilla.

On bare skin, you can expect between 10 and 14 hours of persistent longevity due to its high oil concentration. On fabrics like wool coats, scarves, and heavy cotton shirts, the resinous birch tar, sandalwood, and oud base notes will easily linger for two to three days until washed.

Both fragrances share a powerful core of smoky birch tar, dry woods, and dark leathery oud. Amouage Silver Oud has a slightly sharper, higher-octane castoreum edge, while Oud Bhut Beng incorporates earthy Himalayan spikenard, rosewood, and a hint of vanilla for a more botanical artisan feel.
