Almost immediately, Siberian pine enters the frame, bringing the resinous crunch of snapped evergreen boughs on a freezing morning. The opening avoids looking like a simple citrus cologne because a dark, animalic undercurrent already simmers beneath the fruit.

As the top notes settle over the first half hour, natural deer musk takes center stage. Bitter galbanum and woody cypress wrap around the musk, softening its sharp edges with a damp, forest-like texture. Orange blossom adds a faint floral touch in the background, but this scent never turns sweet or pillowy. Instead, sandalwood and subtle spices give the heart a dry warmth that feels old-fashioned in the best sense.

On skin, the contrast between the sunny citruses and the earthy musk remains active for hours. The citrus does not simply vanish; it hovers over the musk like wet lemon peel resting on vintage leather. In warm room heat, the musk can expand aggressively and overwhelm bystanders.

This scent is built for experienced nose palates and collectors who appreciate vintage chypres like 1970s Givenchy Gentleman. Beginners raised on clean ISO E Super woodies or sweet vanilla gourmands will likely find the natural musk jarring at first spray. However, if you respect raw ingredients and dirty retro compositions, the blending here shows impressive control. My only real critique is that the extreme scarcity makes full bottles impractically expensive on the secondary market.
