Tiger is one of the more restrained entries in the Zoologist line. On paper, the name suggests claws, fur and danger. On skin, it usually lands somewhere drier, quieter and more tailored. The opening brings a tart kumquat effect with saffron and cardamom in support, but the fragrance does not stay bright for long. Very quickly, the woods and vetiver begin to set the tone.

The heart is where Tiger finds its character. Vetiver feels central, rooty, earthy and smoky, while ebony wood, papyrus and incense give the scent a dark, dusty frame. The suede note smooths the structure rather than turning it fully leathery, and the carrot seed adds a faintly bitter, textured edge that some people enjoy and others find odd. Jasmine sambac and ambrette are present more as softening details than obvious floral features.

What makes Tiger interesting is the contrast between its theme and its actual wear. Reviews repeatedly suggest that it is more tame than wild, more polished than animalic. For some, that is exactly the appeal. It gives you a niche, shadowy vetiver with spice and smoke, but without becoming too challenging for everyday use. For others, that same restraint feels like a missed opportunity, especially from a house known for stronger concepts.

In wear, Tiger often shifts from sharp citrus and spice into dry woods, charred nuances and papery earthiness. A few reviewers pick up a clean or laundry-like effect, while others get fur, dry grass, old wood, incense smoke or even an antique-store mood. That range tells you this is not a loud linear scent. It has movement, but the movement stays within a fairly dry, woody spectrum.

Performance seems solid rather than dramatic. The most likely experience is moderate projection with moderate to long-lasting wear. It can stay present for hours, but it does not consistently project like a powerhouse extrait. That gap between concentration and perceived impact is part of why value is debated. If you want a close-wearing, refined woody scent, this may not be a problem. If you expect commanding projection, it may disappoint.

Tiger makes the most sense for someone who already knows they enjoy vetiver, papyrus, incense and dry suede textures. It also works as an accessible entry into Zoologist because it is less confrontational than some of the brand's more polarising releases. But the name matters here: if you want a fragrance that feels feral, hot-blooded or overtly animalic, Tiger may come across more like a composed portrait of the animal than the animal itself.
