It opens with a crowded but interesting top of citrus, herbs and spice, where bergamot and grapefruit add lift while lavender, artemisia, saffron, cinnamon, nutmeg and cardamom bring warmth and aromatic bite. Apple is listed too, though this does not read like the kind of fragrance built around juicy fruit. The impression is more spiced, herbal and amber-leaning than bright or playful.

As it settles, the fragrance appears to move into darker territory. Labdanum, tobacco, oud, agarwood, cedar and cashmeran suggest a heart with more weight and texture than sweetness. There are floral notes on paper, including jasmine, geranium and lily-of-the-valley, but they seem more likely to soften the structure than dominate it. The core idea looks like a warm woody oriental with resin, smoke, spice and a slightly leathery edge.

The base is where VIII Eight seems most coherent. Benzoin, amber, leather, sandalwood, guaiac wood, musk, patchouli, vetiver, tonka and vanilla point to a finish that should feel rounded, smooth and persistent without becoming fully gourmand. That matters, because the fragrance includes sweetening materials, but the overall structure still looks drier and more adult than sugary. If you like amber fragrances that keep some bite from woods, spice and resins, this is the area where VIII Eight is likely to win you over.

In wear, this looks better suited to cooler air than summer heat. The herbal-spicy opening can give it some movement at first, but the fragrance is anchored by tobacco, oud, leather and amber, which usually read richer as the hours pass. That profile makes more sense for evening use, social settings, dinners, or simply for someone who enjoys a fuller scent profile as part of their daily style. It may work in daytime too, but probably not as the easiest office-safe choice in warm climates.

Performance data available here suggests moderate longevity and moderate sillage, so expectations should stay grounded. VIII Eight does not appear to be positioned as an extreme projection fragrance. Instead, it seems better approached as a scent with presence and texture, one that can sit close to the wearer after the opening without disappearing instantly. Skin chemistry will matter, especially with a formula this note-heavy.

The main reason to try VIII Eight is style. It leans into amber, spice, woods and resins, with enough vanilla and benzoin to smooth the edges and enough tobacco, oud and leather to keep it from turning soft. That will appeal to wearers who enjoy richer orientals with a slightly old-school character. If you mainly wear crisp citrus, clean musks or transparent woods, this may feel too dense. If you enjoy fragrances that smell layered, warm and a little shadowy, it looks much more promising.
