Nero by Zodiac is built around contrast, but not in a flashy way. The note list suggests a bright opening with aldehydes and tangerine, then a much warmer centre of patchouli, immortelle, suede, amber, vanilla and heliotrope. On paper, that gives you a scent that starts with lift and quickly settles into something fuller, softer and more textured.

The first impression is likely to be the clean sparkle of aldehydes beside citrus. Tangerine should keep the top from feeling too abstract, adding a gentle juicy edge before the fragrance turns inward. This does not look like a sharp citrus scent for long. The structure points quite clearly toward the base, and that base seems to be where Nero makes its case.

Once it develops, the fragrance appears to lean into powdery amber warmth. Vanilla is the strongest accord in the profile, but the rest of the pyramid suggests a more dressed, cosmetic and slightly shaded kind of vanilla rather than a gourmand one. Heliotrope can add that almond-powder softness, while amber thickens the body. Patchouli helps keep the sweetness from going flat, and immortelle may give the middle a dry, textured warmth with a faintly spiced, sun-baked feel.

The suede note matters here. Based on the accord structure, Nero is unlikely to wear like a smooth vanilla alone. The leather effect seems softer than aggressive, more suede than smoke, which should make the scent feel plush rather than rough. That combination of powder, amber, suede and patchouli suggests a fragrance with presence, and one that may feel more polished at night than casual in hot daytime weather.

Performance data is limited, but the available votes point to long-lasting wear and strong sillage. With so little voting depth, that should be treated carefully, yet the construction itself supports the idea of solid staying power. Warm amber, vanilla, patchouli and suede are not usually fleeting materials. Expect a fragrance that can feel noticeable, especially if oversprayed.

For buyers, the main question is taste. Nero may work well for someone who enjoys warm, powdery scents with a slightly leathery edge and a more formal mood. It is less likely to satisfy someone looking for a transparent floral, a bright citrus fragrance, or a clearly edible vanilla. The official genre label says oriental floral, but the buyer experience looks more ambery, powdery and suede-toned than floral in the usual sense.

With that in mind, Nero feels like a sample-first fragrance. The composition has enough character to stand out, but it also has a few dividing lines: powder, suede, immortelle and patchouli do not read universal. If those materials already appeal to you, Nero looks interesting. If not, testing before buying is the sensible move.
