Axis Mundi opens with a dry pop of resinous frankincense, peppery elemi, and a brief flicker of sweet champaca flower. The initial spray leaves a slight alcohol solvent tang on bare skin for two minutes before the oils bloom. Soon, earthy myrrh and weathered Himalayan cedarwood take over the heart, softened by a faint touch of Rose de Mai and powdery orris root. The base settles into warm labdanum, sweet Siam benzoin, and a whisper of dark agarwood oud. It smells like stepping inside an ancient wood paneled library filled with unburnt incense sticks and drying herbs. The texture is plush, dry, and comforting without any sticky synthetic sweetness.
