Chopard Oud Malaki hits the skin with a sharp crack of tart grapefruit and bitter artemisia. Lavender softens the blow within five minutes. The citrus flashes off fast. In its place, a thick layer of cured pipe tobacco, sweet kitchen spices, and soft jacket leather takes command. The woods underneath are dry. You will not find any barnyard animal funk or medicinal gauze here. Dominique Ropion kept the agarwood accord exceptionally clean and polite, anchoring the base with salty mineral ambergris, smoked cedar, and dark timber. It smells like hot spiced black tea.
