Chopin OP. 9 opens with a tart bite of rhubarb and dark, stewed plum balanced by a burst of crisp bergamot. The tartness subsides quickly. Warm cedar and resinous labdanum take over the middle stage, adding a dry woody backbone with subtle hints of spicy clove and mild agarwood oud. In the dry-down, earthy vetiver, unlit tobacco leaf, and smoky guaiac wood anchor the base. It smells like a quiet wooden library filled with pipe tobacco and dried fruit preserves.
